Northrop Antiques Mall was built as the Northrop Mercantile around 1900.  Old timers recall when it was once the site of  a “honky-tonk” in the 1930’s and 1940’s.  It was a great gathering place for the teenagers of the town.  Today, Northrop Antiques Mall is still the anchor store in a thriving coastal town of quaint shops, good restaurants and Cape Fear  River  views—Southport, the town with the ‘salubrious’ breezes.
